Massachusetts Convention Center Authority Convention Center Awards and Recognition

The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center was awarded the 2007 “Convention Center of the Year” by Event Solutions magazine. The Spotlight Award is presented to the convention center that provides superior facilities and customer service in the hosting of meeting and events. 

 Boston was named to Tradeshow Week’s list of Top 10 American Convention Cities in 2005 after a 22-year absence and has maintained its listing for the past three years. 

MCCA Executive Director James E. Rooney was named to Tradeshow Week’s 2006 annual list of “Top 100 Influential People in the Trade Show Business.” He was also one of ten selected leaders in the category, “On the City Side: Putting out the Welcome Mats,” recognizing convention bureau and convention center executives across North America. 

The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center was awarded the 2005 and 2006 Planners’ Choice Award by the subscribers of MeetingNews for “Excellence in Convention Center Services and Facilities.”  

The John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center received the Planner’s Choice award in 2003.

 

Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau Outstanding Service Awards

 The GBCVB won the 2007 Pinnacle Award coveted by convention and visitors bureaus because it represents recognition directly from clients for outstanding service to the association and meetings industry.  The Pinnacle Award winners are selected by meeting planners and Successful Meetings magazine.  The GBCVB has won this award fifteen times. 

The 2007 Gold Service Award was won by the GBCVB in a survey conducted by Meetings & Conventions magazine.  Forty domestic and international convention & visitors bureaus were selected recipients of Meetings & Conventions magazine’s Gold Service Award.  More than 700 Bureaus worldwide competed for the award.  The Gold Service Award signifies commitment to superior service for convention planners and delegates. This is the fifteenth year that the GBCVB has won the Gold Service Award.  

The GBCVB has been awarded the 2007 Gold Service Elite Award establishing them as the “best of the Best” – one of the top Five convention & visitors bureaus in the World. 

The 2007 “Award of Excellence” was won by the GBCVB.  The bureau was chosen by Corporate & Incentive Travel magazine to receive this coveted award that recognizes CVB’s that best served the corporate meetings and incentive travel markets.
